Expert Board and Train Services in Lehigh Valley

Board and train programs provide intensive, professional dog training where your dog stays with a professional trainer for focused instruction. Off Leash K9 Training of Lehigh Valley offers residential training programs designed to build obedience, leash skills, recall, everyday manners, and better control through immersive learning.

Off Leash K9 Training of Lehigh Valley serves dog owners throughout Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, Emmaus, and surrounding Lehigh Valley communities. Whether you have a young pup needing foundation work or an adult dog struggling with unwanted behavior, a free phone consultation can help determine which training program fits your dog’s specific needs.

Why Board and Train is Effective for Lehigh Valley Dogs

Board and train programs work because they remove common barriers that slow progress during at-home training. Here is what makes this approach effective for Lehigh Valley dogs:

Intensive Focus

Dogs receive concentrated training in a structured environment away from many common distractions of home life. The program gives your dog focused instruction with a professional trainer during the board-and-train period.

Faster Results

Dogs benefit from repetition, structure, and clear communication. Immersive board-and-train programs give dogs repeated practice with obedience, leash skills, manners, recall, and distractions in a focused training environment.

Consistency

Professional trainers maintain the same level of clear communication throughout the program. This consistency helps dogs understand exactly what is expected of them.

Owner Relief

Busy Lehigh Valley pet owners can continue their schedules while their dog receives professional attention. This is especially helpful for families juggling work, school, and other responsibilities.

Behavioral Foundation

Board and train helps establish obedience, leash manners, greeting manners, door manners, and better control around distractions. Depending on the program, training may also help with common issues such as jumping, pulling on leash, poor recall, and poor manners.

Board and train is not a drop-off and fixed solution. Owner involvement is crucial for maintaining skills post-training, which is why all programs include owner education sessions.

Our Board and Train Process

Step 1: Free Phone Consultation

The process begins with a conversation about your dog’s specific behavioral challenges and training goals. During this consultation, trainers evaluate which board and train program fits your dog’s age, temperament, and needs. You can ask questions about the residential training experience, what commands your dog will learn, and how the turnover process works.

Step 2: Program Selection and Scheduling

Once you choose the appropriate board and train program for your dog, payment is completed and scheduling is arranged. Training packages must be paid in full before scheduling, and clients are sent the scheduling link after payment is received.

Step 3: Professional Residential Training

Your dog boards with a professional trainer for intensive training during the program. Depending on the board-and-train option, training may include commands such as come, sit, down, place, heel, off or no, along with loose leash walking, recall, door manners, greeting manners, meal manners, and work around distractions.

Step 4: Owner Education Session

After completing the training program, owners receive a one-on-one session to learn how to handle their newly trained dog. This turnover session teaches you the commands your dog has learned, how to properly control the equipment, and maintenance techniques to preserve training results.

Success Stories from Lehigh Valley Families

Rated 5 out of 5

I cannot say enough about Offleash K9! My nearly 2 year old Pitt mix Loki completed the basic lesson package last year and did well but needed to hone those skills and learn some independence from his rescue sister Waffles and myself. So we signed him up for the 2 week board and train with Trainer Angela and are so happy with the results. Walks are a breeze, his offleash recall is amazing, he is all-around much happier on walks, and his manners at home have greatly improved.

Aubrey Butterfield // Lehigh Valley

We recently took our 6 month old German Shorthaired Pointer to the 2 week board and train with Maria. We were having issues with recall and off leash heel. We got videos and pictures of Peppers progress daily and when we went to pick her up she was a different dog. She’s so well behaved now, comes when she’s called and we can take her anywhere off leash and she sticks right by my side. Evan and Maria were both so easy to communicate with the whole time she was gone and even now that she’s home to answer any questions we have. I would definitely recommend off leash k9 to anyone looking to have a well behaved dog.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long are the board and train programs?

Programs range from 1 week to comprehensive puppy development courses. Specific durations include the 1 Week Freedom Board & Train, 10 Day On Leash Board & Train, 10 Day Pawsitive Foundation Puppy Board & Train, and 2 Week Board & Train. The Comprehensive Puppy To Adult program spans two phases: an initial puppy phase followed by adult obedience training when the dog matures.

What commands will my dog learn during board and train?

Depending on the program, training may include come, sit, down, place, heel, off or no, loose leash walking, recall, door manners, greeting manners, meal manners, and work around distractions. The 2 Week Board & Train may also include extended commands, down from distance, and on- or off-leash walking when applicable.

Do you provide owner education after the program?

Yes, board-and-train programs include owner education sessions so you can learn what your dog was taught and how to properly handle them after training. The website also notes that board-and-train programs include lifetime support and refresher classes as needed, as long as program requirements are followed.

Can board and train help with aggressive or reactive dogs?

Dogs with reactivity or aggression should be evaluated carefully so the trainer can recommend the right program. Off Leash K9 Training of Lehigh Valley offers a dedicated Reactivity & Aggression Dog Training program focused on triggers, confidence, emotional regulation, threshold management, controlled exposure, and obedience after the dog is more emotionally stable. For major dog aggression or people aggression, the website notes that board-and-train cannot guarantee fixes, but it may help provide control and better management.
